a/Prof Eng was invited to speak at the I MORE shoulder education day in Sydney 20th June. The day focused on arthroplasty, and the talk addressed assistive technology in shoulder arthroplasty – 3d planning, Patient specific instrumentation (PSI) , navigation, augmented reality and robotics. Each method has its pros and cons, and is evolving rapidly. It was noted in our Australian joint registry that PSI has helped lower the revision rates in reverse shoulder arthroplasty – which means patients have 1 operation and it lasts longer. We all use these at Geelong Orthopaedics.
