Geelong orthopaedics has just held its annual scientific meeting, which has been held since the 1990’s. Dr Halliday organised it beautifully, and our guest speaker was Dr Jit Balakumar who is a paediatric hip surgery specialist. His discussion of surgical anatomy, techniques and results was fascinating. Other topics included shoulder surgery, metabolic pathways in rotator cuff tear, the role of blood tests post surgery, the AOA academy of excellence, overtime levels in hospitals in trainees, and fitness for surgery. As always, there were many engaging speakers, and we look forward to 2026!
