It is with disappointment that we would like to flag likely upcoming surgery restrictions again. As case numbers explode, and epidemiological controls are ignored leading to no attempts to “flatten the curve” , Barwon Health is forced to clear wards out in preparation for a massive influx of covid patients. This time about two thirds are south west region patients, and one third are from out of our area, as opposed to last year when most patients were from Melbourne. The department of health will likely institute restrictions on elective surgery very soon. We will do our best to keep you informed as soon as we hear.
