Prof Page is the upper limb lead surgeon of the Victorian orthopaedics trauma outcomes registry called VOTOR. It tracks the causes and outcomes of patients who are admitted to hospital for trauma in Victoria. We would like to acknowledge Prof Pages great work in this area. Trauma remains a significant cause of disability in our society. Our Geelong orthopaedics surgeons treat all the orthoapedic trauma at University Hospital Geelong. Last year 864 patients were admitted to our local hospital with trauma. Many more are treated but do not require hospital admission. We are proud of our contribution to the health care of all the Geelong community.
Overall across Victoria 44% of injuries are falls , frequently in more elderly or sick patients who fall from a low height. Road accidents account for 31% of the injuries, and motorcyclists continue to be over-represented in this group. We encourage everyone to ride/drive safely!
