On Monday oct 5 our orthopaedic group participated in a zoom audit and review of our latest fractured hip data from Geelong Hospital. These are common fractures affecting elderly patients mostly with bone fragility and medical comorbidities. We collect much data for our fractured hip registry, ensuring that our care is as high quality as possible. Our 120 day mortality rates are excellent, and our multidisciplinary management of these complex and at risk patients ranks highly with supports from physios who are excellent at supporting patients from day 1 and specialised geriatricians who help out before and after surgery. We are constantly looking to maintain quality and regular reviews help this enormously, another great feature of working as a team of surgeons.
